In Oregon, it is permissible to use your motor vehicle insurance to pay for medical care when you are injured in an MVA.
The health care you receive after your MVA is billable directly to your motor vehicle insurance carrier not your health insurance. You can receive treatment for your sustained injuries from an emergency room visit, primary care provider, chiropractic doctor, physical therapist and massage therapist.
Personal Injury Protection (PIP). This covers you and persons in your vehicle that were injured in the accident. This is where your medical attention costs will be paid from. In Oregon, the standard minimum is $15,000. I advise everyone I know to increase this coverage to its maximum, you would be surprised how inexpensive it is.

*The name of the insurance agent or adjuster that opened your PIP claim.
*The phone number of the insurance adjuster’s office.
*The policy number.
*The claim number.

- Make sure you have not exhausted your benefits by contacting your insurance company.
- From the Emergency room MD, Primary Care Provider or Chiropractor ask for a massage therapy referral. They will be happy to provide this for you as they know you are injured and in pain. If you forget its not a problem to receive a referral once we start working together.
